DOUBLE K

URL: doublek.thewebcomic.com
Creator/s: Nate Maurer
Run: 04/08-current
Schedule: Two or three pages a week
Section: Ch. 5

So, yeah, I wasn't expecting to run into a comic like this on Smack Jeeves, and as you can see, my format's already been thrown out the window. DOUBLE K's not only one of the best webcomics I've ever seen, but I'd say it's exceptional even for print standards. Reading this webcomic, I felt sort of guilty, like I'd stumbled upon a pirating site that had ripped off work from an established pro. If I'd spent 20 bucks on a DOUBLE K TPB at a convention, I don't think my opinion of the comic would be any less.

And it's not just me. Take a look at the Kickstarter page for the webcomic's first print version. The creator already has nearly 700 "pledges" for orders totaling almost $27,000, and about 500 of those orders are just for a signed print copy. And this is for a webcomic that's completely free to read in its entirety online. DOUBLE K's the real deal, folks.

    1. I can't say for sure whether DOUBLE K's legal or not, but I didn't intend to cause any harm by recommending a webcomic I like. If you have a problem with DOUBLE K, you should get in touch with its creator.

    2. Actually it isn't. Double K was a spin off from the series of Tegen Toppa Gurren Lagann. There are more spin offs of the series of Gurren Lagann than fucking Neon Evangelion. Double K is more than good, its fantastic. We see characters, awesome bro fist, crazy shit, it feels like the anime except miami vice style and corruption. It probably is one of the best webcomics.

  2. You're insane. It's a hilarious and well-drawn parody of a good anime. I don't know how legal it is either, but legal or not there's nothing disgraceful about Double-K: it's really good!

    1. It's a popular webcomic that has more than 1,000 Fans on Smack Jeeves, so it's clear that a lot of people are going to be reading DOUBLE K anyways regardless of any concerns about its legality.

  4. Unfortunately, CaptainOsaka has decided to delete Double K off of his DeviantArt. So unless someone had the foresight to download every page and can reupload them somewhere, we have lost one of the treasures of the internet.
